We believe that there's no such thing as over intercooling an
engine. Whenver possible, fit the largest intercooler you can.
We also believe strictly in front-mounting because air-to-air
intercoolers must be in the path of ambient air flow. Top mounted
and under-hood air-to-air intercoolers are useless, especially
on street-cars where heat-soak can cause intercoolers to actually
absorb heat. We've had far too many customers that have destroyed
their engines because of heat soak with a top mounted intercooler.
A longer charge air path does not always increase turbo-lag, despite
popular belief. Often times, the smaller, more restrictive top
mounted or side mounted intercoolers are so restrictive that turbo-lag
can actually decrease with using a properly designed front mounted
intercooler system.
"When boosting engines up to 45psi, keeping the intake charge
as cool as possible requires and intercooler that provides both
low pressure drop as well as an extremely high rate of heat rejection.
We've found XS Engineering's PowerI/C intercooler cores to be
the best!"
