In today's high performance import aftermarket, one critical
issue that is often neglected is oil cooling. Why would you spend
$5,000 plus on an engine and not give it a little insurance? As
your engine's level of performance increases through greater horsepower
output and/or greater RPM capacity, so does the demand placed
upon your engine's oil. Turbocharged and high compression engines
create extreme amounts of heat that is transfered into the oil.
Oil breaks down easier at higher temperatures resulting in damaged
engine bearing, crankshafts, camshafts, and everything else in
the crankcase. Oil coolers are especially important on high output
streetcars and racecars. Whether you are upgrading your factory
oil cooler or adding an oil cooler to your engine, you can expect
reduced thermal breakdown and extended engine and turbocharger
life.
